NANCY JANE SWANGO CALLED BY DEATH

Mrs. Nancy Jane Swango, 90 years old, died Sunday morning at her home in South Central Avenue, death due to general debility.

Funeral services were held from the residence at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, the Rev. Victor Dorris officiating. The pallbearers were Chauncey Cooper, Frank Alexander, Frank Moss, W. E. Redman, Joseph Poelstra and Joseph Smittkamp. Burial was at Edgar Cemetery.

Nancy Jane Hanks, daughter of William and Mary Hanks, was born in Symmes township, September 12, 1832, being at the time of her death 90 years and 12 days old. She was married on September 16, 1852 to Jesse Swango, who passed away four years ago last April. To this union were born five children, three of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Harlan and Clarence Swango of Paris, two grandchildren, Jesse Swango, Jr. of this city and Mrs. Mary Gleckler of Mattoon; also two great grandchildren, Harlan Austin Swango and Walter Swango and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Baber of Kansas, Illinois.

Early in life Mrs. Swango united with the Christian church and remained faithful throughout her life. She was a very influential member of the Asher church and was always at service as long as her health permitted. In the later years of her life Mrs. Swango devoted a great deal of her time to reading the Bible and in prayer.

Frazier of Bushton, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Ellsberry Perisho, Mrs. Iram Perisho, Mrs. William Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Foreman, Mr. and Mrs. Letcher O'Hair, and Mr. and Mrs. Eliza James of Charleston, and Mrs. Eva Wilhoit of Kansas.
