BRANN PAGE-51 DEATH OF J. S. O'HAIR Occurred Tuesday Night at His Home in Swango WAS DUE TO GENERAL DEBILITY Aged Man Was a Native of Kentucky Where He was Born Seventy-Two Years Ago, Being a Pioneer Resident of Edgar Co. The death of J. Sylvester O'Hair occurred at 9:50 o'clock Tuesday night at his home at Swango six miles south of Paris, in Symmes township, being attributable to general debility. Mr. O'Hair has been failing quite perceptibly for some time past and his death was hardly unexpected. The deceased was a native of Kentucky, where he was born 72 years ago. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Edgar County, settling here when quite young. At the age of 22 he returned to Kentucky and was married, bringing his bride Immediately to Illinois. Mr. O'Hair has been town clerk of Symmes Township for twelve years past. Fourteen years ago he moved from Silver Lake, four miles south of Swango, to the latter place and started a general store. During that time he has also been agent for the Cairo division of the Big Four Railroad and postmaster. Mr. O'Hair has taken part in every old fiddler's contest held in eastern Illinois and western Indiana for many years past and never failed to return home loaded with prizes. Aside from his wife the deceased Is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles Wallace of this city, and Mrs. Rose Doll of Marshall.
